Long Island Tennis Magazine’s 2010 Girls High School Tennis Preview

In last year’s Long Island Girl’s Tennis County Championship, Syosset High School defeated Half Hollow Hills West 5-2 to win the 2009 Long Island Championship. This year, a majority of the Syosset High School girl’s roster returns and they look to again raise the championship.

Individual players to keep an eye on:

Long Island girl’s singles players

►Jacqueline Raynor (Garden City): All-New York State and All-County honors, and runner-up at the Nassau County Championship in 2009.

►Hannah Camhi (Syosset): All-New York State and All-County honors, Hannah led Syosset High School to the Girl’s Long Island Championship in 2009 and finished third at the New York State Tournament.

►Samantha Elgort (Half Hollow Hills East): All-New York State and All-County honors, Samantha finished second in the Suffolk County Singles Championship and sixth at the New York State Tournament.

►Devlin Ammendola (Farmingdale): All-County honors and quarterfinalist at the Nassau County Championships in 2009.

Long Island girl’s doubles
►Missy Edelblum & Paige Mintz (Roslyn): All-New York State & All-County honors, the team of Edelblum & Mintz won the Nassau County Doubles Tournament in 2009.

Long Island Tennis Magazine will be out at the girls matches all season, and we are looking forward to covering yet another great season of girl’s tennis.
