2nd Annual Long Island Tennis Expo Promoted on News 12 Long Island

On Thursday night, March 3rd, Sportime Kings Park General Manager Jason Wass appeared in the eight o’clock hour on News 12 Long Island to discuss this weekend’s upcoming 2nd Annual Long Island Tennis Expo. Set for this Sunday, March 6 at Farmingdale State College’s Roosevelt Hall (Expo Room and Auditorium), located at 2350 Broadhollow Road in Farmingdale, N.Y. In the approximately five-min. appearance, Wass discussed all that will take place at the event, highlighting the guest speaker panel discussion on "The Road to College Tennis Scholarships" and the many activites that are planned for the day-long event this Sunday.

 

Some of the events planned for the "Center Court" activity area will include:

►Speed Serve Booth: A radar gun will be set up and rackets will be supplied so that kids can see how fast they serve.

►QuickStart Tennis Instruction: Any beginners and all kids 10-and-under will be able to enjoy getting on a small tennis court to play tennis, while getting tips from the area’s top tennis pros.

Dave & Busters Game Area: Dave & Busters will be on hand with multiple video games to play, as well as a prize wheel with chances to win. Kids will be able to spin the prize wheel to win Dave & Busters Power Cards plus other toys and prizes.

Beach Tennis: A miniature Beach Tennis court will be set up and kids will be supplied paddles to use so they can try out this great sport that is getting more and more popular all over the world.

Fitness Area: There will be training experts who will be able to test and discuss your physical fitness and give tips on improvement.

Challenge Area: Different games and challenges using puzzles, blocks and strategy will be conducted with prizes, such as candy and desserts for the competitors.

In addition to recapping the success of last year’s event thorugh a video package of highlights from the inaugural Long Island Tennis Expo, Wass brought attention to the sport of tennis and discussed its popularity in the New York area, from the success of this past week’s BNP Paribas Showdown at MSG to the U.S. Open at the USTA BIllie Jean King National Tennis Center.
