Popular American ATP World Tour star Sam Querrey has committed to compete in the Campbell’s Hall of Fame Tennis Championships, which will be hosted July 4-10 on the grass courts of the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, R.I. Querrey, who is currently ranked 28th in the ATP World Tour South African Airways rankings, was a finalist at the Newport event in 2009. He joins a dynamic player field that features some of this season’s top newsmakers, including Ivo Karlovic, who famously fired the fastest serve in tennis history in March; 18-year old Ryan Harrison, a rising American star; and Ryan Sweeting, who went from wild card entry to champion at the U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championship in Houston earlier this year. Hosted the week after Wimbledon concludes, the Campbell’s Hall of Fame Tennis Championships draws 32 top ATP World Tour players to compete in the only grass court pro tournament in North America.

"I’m looking forward to returning to Newport," said Querrey. "It’s a fun tournament, the fans are great and the opportunity to play in a facility with such great history is something I really enjoy."

Querrey has consistently been among the top American players since 2008. In January 2011, he reached a career high ranking of number 17. He is a six-time ATP World Tour singles champion, including four titles that he captured last summer en route to his first top-20 season-ending finish. His best singles results this season have included reaching the third round at Indian Wells and the quarterfinals at Memphis. Querrey is an accomplished doubles player as well, and has had a strong doubles season this year, reaching the finals in Houston and semifinals in Madrid.
