Half Hollow Hills East Girls Tennis Team Takes Home 2011 Suffolk County Championship

For the third time in the last seven years, the girls tennis team of Half Hollow Hills East (HHHE) have been crowned Suffolk County Champions. In the Suffolk finals, the top seed from HHHE went up against the Cinderella story of the playoffs, 19th-ranked Northport High School. The finals was a tough match, however, HHHE pulled out the win 5-2.

Highlighting the victory was a win in second singles by Vanessa Scott, who rallied from a set down against Mickey Harding, to win in three tough sets, 4-6, 6-2. 6-4. Also in first doubles, Jessica Mangano & Dominique Grello defeated the team of Jill Duryea & Julia Singh, 7-6 (7-4), 6-2.

The win moves HHHE into the Long Island Championship match against undefeated Syosset, to be played Nov. 1 at 3:00 p.m. at Cold Spring Harbor High School.
