Nassau County Finalists Camhi and Hermann to Meet Again in 2011 NYSPHSAA Finals

The 2011 NYSPHSAA Girls High School Tennis Championships were played this past weekend at Eastside Racquet Club in Manlius, N.Y. Representing Long Island were Hannah Camhi (Syosset), Morgan Hermann (Garden City), Nicholle Torres (Great Neck South), Ludmilla Yamus (Half Hollow Hills East), Zenat Roshizada (Half Hollow Hills West), and Nicole Daniggelis (Smithtown East) in the singles draw. In the doubles draw, Long Island was represented by Amanda Luper & Allison Huber (Half Hollow Hills East), Sarah Han & Malini Desai (Half Hollow Hills West), Mickey & Bridget Harding (Northport), Gabriella Leon & Veronika Paikin (Hewlett), Lauren Livingston & Emma Brezel (Port Washington) and Marisa Cameron & Brittany Burke (Garden City).

All the girls performed very well and made Long Island proud. Today, the finals will be played in both singles and doubles. Two Long Islanders will take the court to settle the Singles State Championship as Morgan Hermann of Garden City will try to avenge her loss to Hannah Camhi of Syosset in the Nassau County Championship match when they meet again today, this time with the 2011 State Championship on the line. Camhi defeated Claire Minnoe of Auburn High School in Auburn, N.Y., 7-5, 6-1 in the semifinals, while Hermann was victorious over Cathryn Crummey, of Shaker High School in Latham, N.Y., 7-6(7), 0-6,7-6(4) in her semifinals match.
