Mark your calendars and save the date as the USTA Eastern Long Island Region has announced that its 22nd Annual Regional Awards Dinner will be held Wednesday, May 9 at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, N.Y. The event will include the annual awards reception honoring local tennis players and enthusiasts for their accomplishments both on and off the tennis courts over the past year. This year’s dinner will have many new elements, including an exciting fiesta theme. Please make plans to attend to cheer on your local award winners and celebrate tennis on Long Island.

This year’s Banquet Featured Guest Speaker will be Ann Liguori, the first woman to host her own call-in sports show on the original all-sports radio station, WFAN-NY. Ann has hosted her show for 20-plus years and continues as the station’s golf and tennis reporter, covering such prestigious events as The Masters, U.S. Open Golf, PGA Championships, Ryder Cup, Solheim Cup, the U.S. Open Tennis Championships and the Olympic Games. In addition to her pioneering radio sports career, Ann was the host, executive producer and owner of "Sports Innerview With Ann Liguori," the longest-running cable sports show, owned, hosted and produced by a woman. Ann is also an author and columnist and, as president of Ann Liguori Productions, an entrepreneur who owns an extensive library of her award-winning interview shows with sports legends.

Currently, Ann hosts her own Sports Innerview with Ann Liguori weekly radio show every Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m. on www.peconicpublicbroadcasting.org, heard throughout The Hamptons, the East End and the Gold Coast of Long Island, Westchester and southern Connecticut. The show is also archived at www.annliguori.com/wliuarchive.html. In addition to her radio and television work, Ann writes a weekly column on all sports for cbsnewyork.com.

Ann is the author of A Passion for Golf, Celebrity Musings About the Game, a collection of interviews with some of the top personalities in sports, business, music and Hollywood, about their success stories and their opinions on all kinds of issues. For the tennis enthusiast, Ann played golf with Pete Sampras and Ivan Lendl and discussed their legendary careers and their passion for both games. Ann uses golf as a vehicle to get to know Jim Brown, Yogi Berra, Smokey Robinson, Celine Dion, Alice Cooper, Sly Stallone, Kevin Costner, Vince Gill, Johnny Bench, Amy Grant, Matthew McConaughey, to name a few, in this fascinating collection of her interviews with intriguing characters.

Copies of her book can be purchased at the Awards Dinner for $20 each or by e-mailing ustaonlongisland@gmail.com, and Ann will be available to sign her book at the dinner.
