Stony Brook Seawolves Host Successful Tennis Fun Fest Fundraiser

March 27, 2012 | By Gary Simeone

The evening of March 24th brought fun for the whole family to the Eastern Athletic Club in Blue Point, N.Y. as the Stony Brook University Family Fun Fest and Fundraiser was held where members of the Stony Brook University Seawolves men’s and women’s tennis teams were on hand to provide lessons, instructional drills and play points with members of the local community. Stony Brook Head Coach Gary Glassman spearheaded the event which is in its sixth year running.

"It’s a good way for the team to meet with the community and it helps offset some of the team costs," said Glassman.

Each court at the Eastern Athletic Club was taken up by members of the Stony Brook team, former Stony Brook players and tennis players from the local community.

"We had a good amount of people show up for the event tonight and that is positive thing for the tennis community," said Glassman. "Our players look forward to this event at the Eastern Athletic Club, and I hope it will continue for years to come."

I personally had a chance to take part in the event by playing points with members of the Seawolves team, hitting with the number one and number two singles players on the women’s team. After hitting with them, I can clearly see why Coach Glassman has such high expectations for the Seawolves this season.
