The Suffolk County Girls Coaches Tennis Association held its Second Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Doubles Tournament on Sept. 22. The round-robin tournament took place at two sites, the Hamlet Country Club in Commack, N.Y. and at Center Moriches High School. The tournament was open to any varsity and/or junior varsity player from all of Suffolk County. There were a total of 31 teams combined from both sites.

The girls played with pink tennis balls and sported pink attire in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. By the end of the day, the event raised $1,030 which will be donated to the Play for Pink Foundation to help find a cure for breast cancer.

"The Suffolk County Coaches Association and all of the players involved should be very proud of what we accomplished," said Shane Helfner, president of the Suffolk County Girls Coaches Tennis Association and Commack Varsity Coach. "It was a day full of tennis and fun, while raising lots of money for such a worthy cause. Way to go Suffolk County tennis!"
