Tennis Involvement Earns Larry Scott and Alan Fleischman Induction Into Bellmore JFK Hall of Fame

Larry Scott, Commissioner of the NCAA PAC-12 Conference and a 1982 graduate of John F. Kennedy High School in Bellmore, has been inducted into the school's Alumni Hall of Fame. On hand to wish him well were USTA Long Island Region President Daniel Burgess and Board Member Melanie Rubin, who presented Scott with a plaque that read: USTA Long Island congratulates Larry Scott for being inducted into the Bellmore Kennedy Alumni Hall of Fame, Dec. 1, 2012.

A 1986 graduate of Harvard College and former professional tennis player on the ATP Circuit, Scott got his start on the varsity tennis team at Kennedy High School. He was New York State Tennis Champion, All-American Honors in Tennis at Harvard College, Recipient of Women’s Sports Foundation “Billie Jean King Contribution Award” and was named to Time Magazine’s list of “Best Global Sports Executives."

Also inducted into the Bellmore JFK Hall of Fame was former boys and girls tennis coach Alan Fleischman. Alan retired in 2002 after being a faculty member for 33 years. Alan coached both the girls and boys tennis teams to much success and made a lasting impression on his players. He is well respected and a friend to many of his former players and is a regular contributor to Long Island Tennis Magazine.
