Sara Errani defeated Agnieszka Radwanska 6-4, 7-6(6), advancing to the semifinals of the 2013 French Open. The second set of the match included eight breaks of serve and Errani raised her arms in celebration after winning the match. Errani’s 81 matches is double that of anyone else in the top 10 this year. Errani secured her first ever win over a top five player and booked a semifinal date with Serena Williams. Errani had lost six of her past seven meetings with Radwanska.

Serena was on her way to a 29th consecutive victory at the French Open, but then faced some difficulty in the form of Svetlana Kuznetsova. Williams lost eight of 11 games in the middle of the match before regaining control of the match and defeating Kuznetsova 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 to reach the semifinals at Roland Garros for the first time since 2003.

Serena swept through the first set, and was broken twice in the second set, them was broken again in the beginning of the third set.

Serena pulled it together in the third set. She fell behind 0-2 in the deciding set, but then won five consecutive games to get 5-2. Kuznetsova stopped the streak, but Williams served it out.

Serena is currently favored over Errani and holds a perfect lifetime 5-0 record against Errani.
