Rafael Nadal is seeded only number five at Wimbledon, setting up potential quarterfinal matches against Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic or Andy Murray. The All England Club released the seedings Wednesday for Wimbledon, with Djokovic as the top seed, followed by Murray, Federer, Ferrer and Nadal. After being sidelined for about seven months due to a knee injury following last year’s Wimbledon, Nadal has won seven of the nine tournaments in his comeback to date in 2013.

The seeding order at Wimbledon is calculated using the ATP rankings, and points are added for grass court tournament achievements in the past year. The women’s seedings correspond with the WTA rankings, with Serena Williams at number one and Victoria Azarenka at number two.

Last year, Nadal lost his match against then-number 100-ranked Lukas Rosol at Wimbledon. Ferrer advanced to the quarterfinals for his first time at Wimbledon, but was defeated by Murray. Ferrer has won the Topshelf Open in The Netherlands, a grass court tournament held the week before Wimbledon, but lost his first-round match there this year to Xavier Malisse on Tuesday.

Nadal will find out on Friday if he will have to beat all of the world’s top three players in order to win the title at Wimbledon.

”I’d sign up to be in the quarterfinals against Rafa tomorrow if someone offered me that,” Murray said in his column for the BBC Web site. ”You could say if I get through that match, then the semifinal might not be as tough, but if you want to win the biggest tournaments you have to beat the best players in the world.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga is seeded at six, with Tomas Berdych dropping to seven, while Marin Cilic has moved up two spots to 10. American John Isner was bumped up from 21 to 18.
