Djokovic Into Beijing Quarters

World number one Novak Djokovic defeated Fernando Verdasco on on Thursday in Beijing at the 2013 China Open, 7-5, 2-6, 6-2 to advance to the quarterfinals. With the win, Djokovic upped his win streak at the China Open to 16-0. Djokovic also maintains his hold atop the ATP Men’s Singles Rankings. 

Djokovic advances to next meet American Sam Querrey, a 6-3, 7-6(2) upset winner over the sixth-seeded Stanislas Wawrinka. In his sixth quarterfinal of the season, Querrey is 1-6 lifetime against Djokovic, his lone victory coming last year at the BNP Paribas Masters in Paris.

"I try to do what I need to do, and that is to win the matches," said Djokovic. "Rankings will change. They change all the time. Over the years it has been the case. But you can’t think too much about it. Your job is to win as many matches as possible and the rankings will follow the results that you make."
