Andy Murray returned to action Tuesday, in his first match since Sept. 15, at the Qatar ExxonMobil Open with a very convincing 38-minute 6-0, 6-0 win over 19-year-old wild card Mousa Shanan Zayed. Murray is now 25-2 overall at the Qatar ExxonMobil Open in Doha, where he won titles in 2008 and 2009. Murray will next face Florian Mayer in round two, a 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 winner over Michal Przysiezny.

"It's good to be back," Murray said. "I will probably go and hit a few balls with my coach now as it was quite windy and there were not a lot of rallies in the match."

David Ferrer, who finished at a career-high number three in the Emirates ATP Rankings last season, defeated Ukrainian Alexandr Dolgopolov 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 after two hours and four minutes in his opening round match in Doha. Ferrer won 84 matches in 2013, and won two titles from nine finals. A semifinalist last year in Doha, Ferrer next meets Daniel Brands, a 6-4, 6-4 winner over former world number three Nikolay Davydenko.
