USTA’s Eastern Section to Recognize Adults and Juniors at Awards Dinner

USTA Eastern will honor more than 35 juniors, adults and organizations on Jan. 25 as the Section hosts its Annual Awards Celebration at the Renaissance Westchester Hotel in White Plains, N.Y. The adults and organizations at the Annual Dinner will be recognized for a number of ways that they helped grow tennis in the Section: From developing and coaching teams at local schools, to organizing programs for children with special needs.

2013 Junior Awards
►Richard D. Lynch II Boys' 12 Sportsmanship Award:  Shawn Jackson (Staten Island, N.Y.)

►Richard D. Lynch II Girls' 12 Sportsmanship Award: Michelle Sorokko (Little Neck, N.Y.)

►Lawrence A. Miller Boys' 16 Sportsmanship Award:  Alex Chao (New York, N.Y.)

►Lawrence A. Miller Girls' 16 Sportsmanship Award: Elizabeth Tsvetkov (Brooklyn, N.Y.)

►Lt. Frederick M. Scribner, Jr. Boys' 18 Sportsmanship Award: Artemie Amari (New York, N.Y.)

►Henry Benisch Scholarship Award: Cameron Daniels (Oakland Gardens, N.Y.)

►Ron Smyth Parent Sportsmanship Award: Sherree Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y.)

2013 Adult Awards
►Family of the Year: Simunyola Family (Yonkers, N.Y.)

►George Seewagen Award: Lawrence Kleger (Jericho, N.Y.)

►Press Service Award: David Sickmen (Wantagh, N.Y.)

►Regional Volunteer of the Year (Long Island): Ronni Klein (Middle Island, N.Y.)

►Regional Volunteer of the Year (Metro): Joani Akpan (Brooklyn, N.Y.)

►Service to/People with Disabilities Award: Gillian Cohen (Merrick, N.Y.)

►USTA League Award: Ginger Wade and Tina Buschi (Malverne, N.Y./Merrick, N.Y.)

►Lifetime Achievement Award: Terry Fontana (Hicksville, N.Y.)
