Two Long Island universities clashed on Tuesday afternoon, as the visiting Stony Brook Seawolves defeated the Hofstra Pride 6-1 at the Hempstead Lake Indoor Tennis Center in West Hempstead, N.Y.

The Seawolves used victories in five of the six singles matches to capture the victory and improve its record to 8-5 on the season. A couple of underclassman dominated the day for Stony Brook.

French sophomore Raphael Termat beat Hofstra’s Adrien Bailly in straight sets 6-1, 6-1 in second singles. Freshman Alexandre Felisa was victorious in first singles, knocking off Ari Richman 4-6, 6-3, 10-7 in a match that included an evenly played third set.

Another freshman, Brandon Stone of Melville, N.Y. defeated Hofstra’s Joseph Erichsen in straight-sets as well, 6-3, 6-3. Stone wasn’t done, as he later paired up with another freshman, Hari Rohan, to win 8-3 in their doubles match against Hofstra’s Leo Pires & Stuart Macleod. The victory in third doubles clinched the overall match for Stony Brook.

Hofstra picked up victories in first doubles (Ari Richman & Adrien Bailly defeated Tyler Hofmann & Marcello Locatelli) and fourth singles (Matthew Gemmell defeated Marcelo Locatelli), but it wasn’t enough as Stony Brook won all the other matchups to claim the match.
