Two NYC Residents to Represent U.S. at Inaugural ITF Young Seniors World Team Championships

The USTA has announced that Mutsumi Shirai and Kline Sack of New York City, are among the 24 players who will represent the U.S. at the inaugural ITF Young Seniors World Team Championships, the senior equivalent of tennis’ Davis Cup and Fed Cup competitions. The 24 American athletes will be competing against players from 25 other countries. The ITF Young Seniors World Team Championships is the highest-ranked event on the ITF Seniors Circuit for male and female players in the age categories of 35-45, and will be held from March 16- 29 in Antalya, Turkey. Prior to this year, these championships had been part of the ITF Seniors World Team Championships.

Shirai, a Tudor City resident, holds two major tennis titles and will be competing in the Young Cup. Sack, a Hell’s Kitchen resident, holds 12 national titles and will be competing in the Dubler Cup.

American teams will be defending titles in the Margaret Court Cup (Women’s 45) for third consecutive year, and the Dubler Cup (Men’s 45).

Following the ITF Young Seniors World Team Championships, the World Individual Championships will be held from March 16-29.
