Record Turnout for U.S. Open Qualifiers

The 2015 U.S. Open Qualifying Tournament, the free event where 128 men and 128 women attempt to qualify for the U.S. Open singles main draws by winning three matches over four days, set an all-time, total attendance record this year.

The new record of 46,894 fans coming to the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center for the Qualifiers was set Aug. 25-28 to watch up-and-comers, such as 2015 French Open boys champion Tommy Paul and veterans on the comeback trail attempt to win their way into the U.S. Open draw.

On the men's side of the draw, qualifiers into the main draw include Borna Coric, Thanasi Kokkinakis, Hyeon Chung, Frances Tiafoe, Jared Donaldson, Alexander Zverev, Andrey Rublev, Yoshihito Nishioka, Elias Ymer, Tommy Paul, Jurgen Melzer, Guido Pella, Nikoloz Basilashvili, Matthew Ebden, Evgeny Donskoy, Konstantin Kravchuk, Alejandro Gonzalez, Illya Marchenko and John-Patrick Smith. Ten teenagers in the U.S. Open main draw are the most since 1990, doubling last year's total of five.

Among the qualifiers on the women's side of the draw include Americans Jessica Pegula of Buffalo, N.Y. and Shelby Rogers of South Carolina, Aliaksandra Sasnovich, Mayo Hibi, Laura Siegemund, Jeļena Ostapenko, Kateryna Kozlova, Alexandra Panova, Kateryna Bondarenko, Elizaveta Kulichkova, Kateryna Bondarenko, Anett Kontaveit, Maria Sakkari, Johanna Konta, Tereza Mrdeža, and Anna Tatishvili.
