New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) doubles partners Justyna Krol & Alessia Rossetti played their way to the United States Tennis Association (USTA)/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) championship match Monday afternoon, after drawing Nour Kaddour & Ashley Loft of Southern New Hampshire State University.

In the final, a three-set match, Krol & Rossetti picked up a 6-2, 6-3 decision over Kaddour and Loft to qualify for next month's ITA Small College Championships, set for Oct. 15-18 at the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, S.C.

"I am so proud of Alessia & Justyna," said NYIT Head Coach Jason Pasion. "They played great doubles the entire tournament, and once in the finals, they jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. With the win, they qualify for Nationals which we are excited to be able to represent NYIT at such a prestigious event."

The squad earned the number two seed after drawing a first round bye to face a combo from Chestnut Hill, who they defeated 8-3. Next up was a pair from Stonehill College, who fell to Krol & Rossetti 8-2, followed by a semifinal matchup against a duo out of Queens College.

Alexandra Borgenhoff & Paulina Velasquez were the other pair from NYIT who advanced to the semifinal, but fell to the Southern New Hampshire State duo, 8-5 that faced Krol & Rossetti in the championship match.

Rossetti still remains in singles play, which will be resumed this week. Visit the NYIT Women's Tennis Schedule for the most up-to-date times and dates.
