Two familiar foes met in the Suffolk County Division II individual championship on Tuesday afternoon at East Islip Middle School as twin brothers Marty and Richie Racanelli of West Islip met in the final.

The sophomores, who began playing tennis together at the age of three, made it through the 32-person field consisting of the top players from Suffolk Leagues III and IV, with Marty being the top seed and Richie the third seed.

Marty would come out on top in the final, downing Richie 7-5, 6-2 in what was a bit of an awkward final for the two.

“I know how they are just at practice, they don’t like to play one another,” West Islip head coach George Botsch told Newsday. “It’s tough to play your brother.”
