Manhasset, Friends Set Up Nassau Semifinal

Manhasset's Maddie Clinton helped lead the Indians past Roslyn in the Nassau County playoffs on Tuesday afternoon.

The defending Nassau County champions, the Manhasset Indians, advanced back to the county semifinals on Tuesday afternoon, defeating Roslyn 5-2 in a quarterfinal showdown.

Maddie Clinton notched a 6-1, 6-1 win over Rena Zerzakos at second singles, and Lia Frankis and Alina Zhitnik posted a 6-3, 6-4 win over Amy Dicker and Ali Glick at first doubles to anchor the Manhasset win.

The Indians will take on Friends Academy in the semifinals, after Friends was a 5-2 winner over Port Washingon on Tuesday.

Gabby Bloom and Jackie Walter led the way for Friends, coming back from a set down to beat Dana Nissan and Mia Fracarro 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 at second doubles.

The Blazers of Great Neck North won a first-round match against Garden City 7-0 on Tuesday, setting up a quarterfinal showdown with Syosset.

The winner of Wednesday’s Great Neck North and Syosset matchup will take on top-seed Cold Spring Harbor in the other semifinal.
