Sportime Syosset Welcomes Phillip Simmonds as Its Newest Tennis Pro

Just off the Pro Tour, Phillip Simmonds has joined the coaching staff at Sportime Syosset. Simmonds was recruited by fellow ATP player Robert Kendrick, who has been director of tennis at Sportime Syosset since September 2012. Both of these accomplished pros are now working with players at the John McEnroe Tennis Academy.

Phillip was born in Selden, N.Y., and returns to Long Island after a stellar junior and professional career where he:

►Achieved a career-best ranking of 200th in the world.

Won nine ITF Futures and three USTA Challenger titles.

►Played U.S. Open main-draw singles in 2006 and U.S. Open main-draw doubles in 2004, 2006 and 2007.

►Was a member of the 2002 Junior Davis cup team that reached finals.

►Won the 2002 Orange Bowl.

►Won the 2003 Australian Open Junior Doubles.

►Was a semifinalist at the French Open and Wimbledon juniors.
