American Coco Vandewghe knocked off fourth-seed Johanna Konta of Great Britain 6-1, 6-3 to reach the Aegon Classic quarterfinals on Thursday.

“I came out playing solid, and was ready to go from the start,” said Vandeweghe. “That’s what you want from a match, to be firing and moving well right away. That’s how I felt today.”

Vandeweghe didn’t face a break point throughout the whole match and fired 20 winners overall to cruise past Konta.

Up next for the big-hitting American is Garbine Muguruza, who knocked off American Alison Riske 6-1, 6-4.

Italy’s Camila Giorgi upset second-seed Elina Svitolina of Ukraine 6-4, 4-6, 6-2. She will play Australia’s Ashleigh Barty next.
