World number 11 Caroline Wozniacki defeated Samantha Stosur of Australia 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 in the finals of the 2012 Kremlin Cup to win her 20th career WTA title. Wozniacki dominated early against Stosur, but then looked to be in trouble after Stosur leveled the match and then broke to love in the first game of the third set. But Wozniacki fought back to level at three-all, and broke again in the last game when Stosur sent a backhand wide on Wozniacki’s second match point.

"I’m just happy I’m healthy, and I feel I’ve been hitting the ball well lately, so I’m just hoping to play well here this week," Wozniacki said. "Everyone’s quite tired at the end of the season—I’m hoping to play well here, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t looking forward to some holidays."

Wozniacki defeated Dominika Cibulkova and Sofia Arvidsson in back-to-back three-setters in the quarterfinals and semifinals.

"I think both of us played very good tennis out there," Wozniacki. "Sam has been playing well and I knew it wasn’t going to be easy, and it could have gone either way at the end, but I think at the right times I played the right shots. There were a lot of key moments, but they just went my way."

Wozniacki is the fourth active player to earn 20 career WTA titles, after Serena Williams, Venus Williams and Maria Sharapova.
