Cold Spring Harbor won its second straight contest on Monday afternoon, getting past Roslyn 4-3 in a Conference I showdown in Nassau County.

The Seahawks were led by its singles play, picking up wins at the first and third singles flights. Senior Sean Mullins defeated Roslyn’s Sangjin Song 6-1, 6-1 at the top singles flight.

“I played pretty well,” said Mullins, who was bouncing back from an ankle injury he suffered against Port Washington. “He [Song] is always a tough match. We had a couple of close games that could have went either way. It’s just about being consistent in those big points and I was able to do that in some of those deuce games we had.”

Griffin Schlesinger notched a 6-3, 6-0 win at the third singles flight to establish an early lead for Cold Spring Harbor.

To secure the win, Cold Spring Harbor picked up wins at second and third doubles. Nick Goldman & Jay Burkett knocked off Josh Cohen & Jordan Freeman 7-6, 7-5 at second doubles, and Tom Campbell & Oscar Como defeated Evan Kirsh & Andrew Lieblich 6-3, 6-4 in the third doubles spot to seal the Seahawks win.

Cold Spring Harbor and Roslyn are now tied for second place in the Conference I standings.

“We played a lot better today than we did the first time around against Roslyn,” said Cold Spring Harbor head coach Edwin Ramirez. “I saw a lot of improvements but we have still have to do a little more at the net in doubles, but we are definitely getting better.”

Sitting atop Cold Spring Harbor and Roslyn in Conference I is Syosset and the Braves continued to roll on Monday, improving to 10-0 overall with a 7-0 triumph over Great Neck South.

The senior duo of Ian Capell & Ross Kleigman beat Jake Glueck & Victor Smoliko 4-6, 6-2, 10-5 at the third doubles spot to lead the way for Syosset.

Elsewhere in Conference I, Dylan Kamali & Avery Nabavian beat Eric Fishbone & Ron Konuff 6-3, 7-5 at fourth doubles to lead Great Neck North to a 4-3 victory over Port Washington.

The key match came at first singles, as the Chiefs’ Matthew Musalo came back from 0-4 down in the final set to win 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 and seal the deal for Massapequa.
