Great Neck North Victorious Over Jericho in Conference I Action

In Thursday boy’s high school tennis action in Conference I, it was visitor Great Neck North who traveled to Jericho and walked away with a 6-1 win. Leading the way for Great Neck North was the double team of Aaron Geula & Elliot Hakimian who defeated Jericho’s Mitchell Leighton & Jake Bernstein 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 at second doubles to lead GN North, who are now 4-6 on the year.

Also in Conference I action, it was host Cold Spring Harbor who were victorious over Port Washington, 4-3. In a back-and-forth match, CSH took two of the three matches on the singles courts, with Sean Mullins and Griffin Schlesinger with wins for CSH. CSH sealed the victory in doubles, with a big 6-2, 6-2 win by the team of Jed Bondy & Thomas Hansen over Port Washington’s Tommy Campbell & Oscar Como. Port Washington had strong doubles wins from the teams of Greg Kaplan & Nick Sica and Jay Burkett & Nick Goldman.

In Conference II-A action, it was the Herricks Boys Varsity Tennis team who traveled to Glen Cove and walk away with a dominant 6-1 win. Herricks moves to the 0.500 mark and sits at 5-5 on the season, as Glen Cove drops to 1-9 on the year.

Oceanside were 7-0 winners over Calhoun in Conference II-B on Thursday, moving to 8-2 on the season and into second place behind Conference leaders Garden City.

In Conference III-B play, it was a battle of the top two teams in the division as second place Lynbrook inched closer to the top spot with a 4-3 victory over first place Plainedge. Lynbrook was led by singles winners Ben Tetelman, Azam Hussain and Matt Moreida, and with the win, move to 7-3 on the year, dealing Plainedge just their second loss on the year.
