Set Point Tennis Thriving in New East Hampton Location

July 12, 2016 | By Long Island Tennis Magazine Staff

The Hamptons’ vibrant tennis community now has a new option for professional tennis equipment, and the perfect mixtures of chic, sporty active wear. Situated in the heart of East Hampton at 47½ Main Street, Set Point Tennis “serves up” a diverse array of tennis racquets, shoes, apparel, accessories; as well as racquet string, grip customization, and a roster of coaching professionals.

Set Point Tennis is the purchase and re-launch of Tennis East, a well-known retailer in East Hampton for 40 years. The store is a “labor of love” for owner Ricardo Winter, a master tennis professional since 1994, and a successful tennis coach in the Hamptons for the past 15 years. Ricardo has researched and developed a master teaching methodology that has effectively accelerated the games of his students of all ages and levels.

Ricardo is joined in Set Point Tennis with his wife, Lisa Herbert-Winter. Lisa, until recently, served as Pantone’s Executive Vice President for Fashion & Home. She has been an often-quoted Color Expert and was the chief “brandvangelist” for the company founded by her father Lawrence Herbert. Having a history surrounded by color, Lisa is enjoying being surrounded by tennis whites, and will handle the marketing and public relations for the store.

The Winters, full-time Hamptons residents, are excited to add Set Point Tennis to the East Hampton business community. They have even tapped into locally based Martin Architecture for the store’s design and fine artist Scott Hewitt and costume designer Yuka Silvera for their window display, to help achieve the unique visual aesthetic of the store.

Embracing the Hamptons Tennis community at large, Set Point Tennis will soon also address the social and cultural aspects of tennis through their website www.setpointtenniseasthampton.com. The website will offer weekly shopping specials, health and exercise tips, as well as commentary on tennis tournaments.

The minimalist approach to the Set Point Tennis store is fresh and fun. In addition to the carefully curated selection of racquets, shoes, apparel and accessories, adults and kids alike can always find a match playing on the flat screen TV. Lastly, don’t miss a fun photo-op for kids with our hand-painted Roger Federer.
