After two days of threatening skies over Flushing Meadows, Day 11 of the 2012 U.S. Open is expected to be played under sunny skies with some cloud cover and nearly no chance of precipitation as action gets underway at 11:00 a.m. EST at Louis Armstrong Stadium with men's singles quarterfinals, doubles action, the stars of tomorrow in junior action and a nighttime celebrity exhibition under the lights at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

It took two days of starting and stopping play, but the third seeded Maria Sharapova advanced to a 2012 U.S. Open semifinal matchup with Victoria Azarenka on Wednesday, overcoming a slow start against France's Marion Bartoli where she fell behind 0-4 yesterday before rain halted play. Today, when play resumed, Bartoli took the first set 6-3, before Sharapova fought back capturing the final two sets 6-3, 6-4. In the third set, Sharapova broke Bartoli twice and only lost serve once herself and held on for the win.

Day Nine of the 2012 U.S. Open will be played Tuesday, under the threatening Flushing Meadows, N.Y. skies which call for sporadic thunderstorms and intermittent sunshine. The weather has played a small role in only slight delays the first eight days of the event, but for the first time on Tuesday, it may wreak havoc on the schedule and cause significant delays.
