The USTA has announced that it will launch Tennis Festivals throughout the month of March, designed to get kids active and excited about the sport of tennis. The kick-off to these Tennis Festivals coincides with the annual “Tennis Night in America” celebration at New York’s Madison Square Garden on March 4, which will feature Rafael Nadal, Juan Martin del Potro, Serena Williams and Victoria Azarenka.

The Stony Brook University Seawolves Tennis Team will hold a Family FunFest on Saturday, March 23 from 6:00 p.m.-9:30 p.m. to raise money to support the team and its activities. The event will take place at Eastern Athletic Blue Point and pre-registration is required. The FunFest includes a tennis clinic, court time, gift bag and light food.

There's a new tennis tournament that doubles as family time. The 2013 National Family Tennis Championships offers thousands of amateur players all across America the opportunity to team up with a family member to earn the right to play for a national title in New York City from August 22-26, 2013. Tennis facilities interested in being one of the 300 host sites have until February 28 to sign-up.

The USTA has announced that 10-year-old Brandon Gicquel of Huntington, N.Y., has been selected to sing “America the Beautiful” prior to the night session on Monday, Sept. 3, at the U.S. Open. Gicquel is set to perform in front of a capacity crowd in Arthur Ashe Stadium at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, which seats 23,771 spectators.

Beginning immediately after the conclusion of Wimbledon, the U.S. Open Series links together WTA and ATP tournaments which take place on hard courts across America throughout the summer.

Serena Williams of the U.S. defeated fellow former number one-ranked Jelena Jankovic in her first match of the 2012 Olympic Tennis Event, 6-3, 6-1. Serena, the number four seed, offset 11 unforced errors with 20 winners during the 61-minute rout, serving particularly well, hitting eight aces in the match.

Tennis Channel will spend this summer honoring the unheralded coaches around the country who help millions of recreational tennis players every day. The network has begun accepting submissions for its "America's Hottest Tennis Coach Contest," with one male and one female winner to be named in August following an online fan poll.

The USTA has announced that it will host its annual open casting call on Tuesday, June 19 at Harlem’s World Famous Apollo Theater in New York City to select children to perform at the 2012 U.S. Open, set for Aug. 27-Sept. 9. Winners will perform “America the Beautiful” live at Arthur Ashe Stadium during night sessions of this year’s U.S. Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
