In light of the weather forecast regarding Hurricane Irene, and in order to avoid any possible safety issues to fans and patrons, many of whom would have been arriving on-site with young children, the USTA has announced the cancelation of the 2011 Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day.

The U.S. Open will take over Times Square in New York City on Monday, June 7, to launch the first day of the 2010 U.S. Open Ticket On-Sale and celebrate the U.S. Open, which will be played in Flushing, N.Y., Monday, Aug. 30 through Sunday, Sept. 12. “US Open Takes Times Square” will run from 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m., on June 7.

The 3.5 Long Island team began three seasons ago as a 3.0 team that rattled off 21 straight victorious matches, including two at the national championships in Las Vegas. Two seasons ago, the team moved up to 3.5, added a few good players and wound up in the middle of the pack. This past season, the team added five new players and found the right combination to win.
