Roger Federer, a five-time U.S. Open champion, has held off the 11th-seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France in straights sets Thursday, 6-4, 6-3, 6-3. This quarterfinal match was rain delayed for one and a half hours after start time, with Federer still putting Tsonga off with a victory.

The 128th U.S. Open Tennis Championship will be held from Aug. 31 to Sept. 13 at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, N.Y.
