The U.S. Open is new underway at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, N.Y. The threat of Hurricane Irene swept through the area and has left many without power and water damage, but the Open is scheduled to get underway with no delays in sight.

Andy Murray of Great Britian defeated Serbian Novak Djokovic on Sunday afternoon in Cincinnati in the finals of the Western & Southern Open after Djokovic, the world's number one ranked player on the ATP Tour, was forced to retire due to a sore right shoulder.

For the second tournament in a row, we've seen world number one Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark fall in her opening match of the Western & Southern Open, an Olympus U.S. Open Series event in Cincinnati. This time, Wozniacki was upset by young American teenager Christina McHale, 6-4, 7-5.

Robin Soderling of Sweden defeated Gael Monfils of France, 6-1, 7-6 (1), to capture his first Masters 1000 title n the Paris Masters final. Soderling became the first Swede to win a Masters 1000 tournament since Thomas Enqvist did so in Cincinnati in 2000. The win will place Soderling number four in the men's rankings.

Roger Federer ended his mini-vacation with another Masters title. A well-rested Federer beat American Mardy Fish, 6-7 (5), 7-6 (1), 6-4 on Sunday, winning the Cincinnati Masters Championship. He was barely on the court all week because his opponents got hurt and his game was so good.
