Madison Square Garden and the Garden of Dreams Foundation have announced that Andre Agassi will be the recipient of the 2011 Garden of Dreams Hero Award. The award, established in 2009, honors one person or organization annually that embodies the spirit and commitment of the Garden of Dreams Foundation, with active, on-going dedication to children facing obstacles.

The 2nd Annual Tennis and Rockin' Blues® Event Featuring One-on-One Doubles is slated for Saturday night, Jan. 22 from 8:00 p.m.-midnight at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center's Indoor Complex. This unique, combined tennis and music event includes a $1,000 in prize money, sanctioned by USTA/Eastern, for the Men's Open and Men's 35-and-Over Divisions of play.

The USTA has announced that Jim Courier has been named U.S. Davis Cup Captain. Courier signed a multi-year agreement and succeeds Patrick McEnroe, who ended his 10-year tenure as U.S. Davis Cup Captain in September.

The following is the acceptance speech from Nancy McShea from the recent USAT/Long Island 19th Annual Awards Dinner, held at the Crest Hollow Country Club. Nancy was honored by USTA/Long Island with the Hy Zausner Lifetime Achievement Award for dedication and service to the Long Island Tennis community. The award is presented in honor of Hy Zausner, who passed away on 1992 and founded the Port Washington Tennis Academy in 1965, a facility that saw players such as John McEnroe and Vitas Gerulaitis pass through its doors. Long Island Tennis Magazine would like to congratulate Nancy and the rest of the award winners on their accomplishments, recognition and dedication to growing the sport of tennis on Long Island.
