Top-seeded Gael Monfils of France has advanced to the quarterfinals of the Stockholm Open, with a 6-4, 6-7 (4), 6-4 win over world-44th-ranked Bernard Tomic of Australia. Monfils will face South African Kevin Anderson, the number five seed, in the quarterfinals.

Novak Djokovic has withdrawn from his match, allowing Argentina to gain a 3-1 lead over Serbia advancing them to the Davis Cup finals against Spain. Djokovic's back pain overwhelmed the top ranked player against Juan Martin Del Potro, forcing him to retire early in the second set of the match.

In Sunday action at the 2011 U.S. Open, 22-year-old American Donald Young reached the fourth round at a Grand Slam for the first time, beating 24th-seeded Juan Ignacio Chela from Argentina in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4, 6-3. A full house at the Grandstand gave Young a standing ovation as he celebrated the victory, pumping his fist and grinning widely. Young had 46 winners to Chela’s 19.

Yesterday, the seeding ceremony took place at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, where the top 32 seeds were announced for this year's Wimbledon. For the most part, the men’s seeding generally followed their actual ATP ranking.

On day two at the 2011 Australian Open, Rafael Nadal advanced by defeating Marco Daniels in an injury-shortened match. The Brazilian Daniels' left knee gave out, forcing him to retire from the first-round match. Nadal was very impressive in his short time on-court, as he had gone ahead 6-0, 5-0 prior to the default. Nadal will next play American qualifier Ryan Sweeting who beat Daniel Gimeno, 6-4, 6-4, 6-1.

Day Two of the 2010 U.S. Open saw lots of problems for the seeds, as many of the sport's top stars on both the men's and women's sides struggled. Some managed to overcome adversity and survive to live another day, while others took an early exit from Flushing Meadows.
