USTA Foundation, the national charitable organization of the USTA, has announced that Emmy Award- and Golden Globe Award-winning actor Alec Baldwin and Emmy Award-winning journalist and Yahoo Global News anchor Katie Couric will co-host the 15th annual Opening Night Gala on Monday, Aug. 31, at the 2015 U.S. Open.

The USTA has announced the entertainment lineup for the 2015 U.S. Open, and in addition to the previously announced Josh Groban, who will headline this year’s Opening Night Ceremonies, noted performers Vanessa Williams, Ciara and Aloe Blacc have now been added to perform the National Anthem or other patriotic songs on Opening Night and Finals Weekend.

The USTA has announced a series of physical improvements, fan and player upgrades, and new sponsor activations that will be unveiled at the 2015 U.S. Open. The main draw of the tournament begins Monday, Aug. 31 and concludes Sunday, Sept. 13, with qualifying starting on Tuesday, Aug. 25 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

The 12th season of the Emirates Airline U.S. Open Series, the five-week North American summer tennis season that links seven ATP World Tour and WTA summer hard court tournaments to the U.S. Open, launches next week with the men’s BB&T Atlanta Open. Since its inception in 2004, the Emirates Airline U.S. Open Series has increased television viewership and event attendance, while generating new corporate partnerships for the sport.

The USTA has announced that for the 2015 summer tennis season, ESPN will broadcast over 1,800 hours of live tennis action across it’s platforms as the exclusive live domestic television and digital media partner for the U.S. Open and Emirates Airline U.S. Open Series. The year 2015 marks the first year of an 11-year agreement between the USTA and ESPN, which will see the U.S. Open carried on ESPN through 2025.

World number one Novak Djokovic faced no problems in his opening round match Tuesday. The Serb knocked off Slovakian qualifier Aljaz Bedene 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 to move into the second-round of the Australian Open. It was the first meeting between the two and Bedene showed some things that Djokovic was impressed with.

The USTA has announced that it has entered into a comprehensive media partnership with ESPN for the television and digital presentation of the U.S. Open and the Emirates Airline U.S. Open Series. The 11-year agreement will begin in 2015 and extend through the 2025 US Open and provide professional tennis with more than 200 hours of live coverage each summer. Current domestic television agreements for the US Open conclude following the 2014 U.S. Open.
