MSG Sports and StarGames have announced a comprehensive broadcast plan for the 2012 BNP Paribas Showdown that involves ESPN to broadcast the much-anticipated matches live from Madison Square Garden on Monday, March 5 featuring world number two-ranked Maria Sharapova of Russia playing former world number one Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark and world number three Roger Federer of Switzerland taking on American Andy Roddick.

Wimbledon television coverage is ceasing to broadcast on NBC after doing so for 43 years. ESPN looks to be the successor to NBC for future years. According to NBC, they were "simply outbid and would have liked to continue their relationship."

Mike Greenberg of ESPN's "Mike & Mike in the Morning" show had his wish come true at Monday's U.S. Open National Playoffs/Mixed-Doubles Sectional Qualifying at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. "I got to play with tennis legend, Chris Evert," said Greenberg. "I requested her because I knew she was a great tennis player and to be honest she was the first woman I ever loved."
