The USTA has announced that it will celebrate the refurbishment and creation of 10,000 youth-sized tennis courts in the United States as part of USTA’s commitment to First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! initiative. A special celebratory event, Court 10K, will be held on March 19 at the Tamiami Tennis Center in Miami to commemorate the milestone.

USTA Serves, the national charitable foundation of the USTA, has announced the results of the USTA Serves Special Report, "More Than a Sport: Tennis, Education and Health." The study, conducted among high school students, is the first nationwide study to analyze the educational, behavioral and health benefits to adolescents who participate in tennis.

World Gym Bay Shore held a free Tennis Play Day on Saturday, Oct. 6 from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Two indoor tennis courts were reserved for the event to give free lessons to local children looking to learn the game.

Baldwin Tennis Club took first place in the First Annual DOTS Invitational tennis tournament, a new kids tennis program designed to be a first introduction to match play in a less competitive format. Created by HD Tennis, Syosset, the first DOTS event took place at Cantiague Park in Hicksville and brought together teams from HD Tennis, Baldwin Tennis Club and Long Island Tennis and Learning Services, Freeport.

HD Tennis, a USTA Eastern Long Island Region member organization, has announced its First Annual DOTS Invitational, a new tennis program for kids that is designed to be a first introduction to match play in a less competitive format. The inaugural event has been scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 15 at Cantiague Park in Hicksville, N.Y. Registration begins at 10:00 a.m. and match play at 11:00 a.m.
