Locals Jamie Loeb of Ossining, N.Y. and 17-year-old Noah Rubin of Rockville Centre, N.Y. will participate in the 2013 French Open Junior Championships, June 2-8 at Roland Garros in Paris, France. Both Rubin and Loeb train out of the John McEnroe Tennis Academy in Randall's Island.

The 2013 Davis Cup by BNP Paribas World Group first round match between the United States and Brazil begins Friday at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Fla., on an indoor hard court. It will be the first home tie for both John Isner and Sam Querrey, the USA number one and two singles players, respectively. Neither players have played a Davis Cup match on hard courts, as all matches have been contended on clay.

Rain yesterday at the 2011 U.S. Open again washed out action, creating some interesting scenarios for Thursday's action at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center as Day 11 action begins. In Sunday action at the 2011 U.S. Open, 22-year-old American Donald Young reached the fourth round at a Grand Slam for the first time, beating 24th-seeded Juan Ignacio Chela from Argentina in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4, 6-3. A full house at the Grandstand gave Young a standing ovation as he celebrated the victory, pumping his fist and grinning widely. Young had 46 winners to Chela’s 19.
