The girls tennis schedule across Long Island was a light one on Thursday, as most teams prepare for their respective matches on Friday afternoon. However, a few teams took to the hard courts on Thursday afternoon, including Great Neck South, who was seeking to extend its winning streak to 11 and maintain its undefeated record.

The Manhasset Indians took its six-match winning streak into a home contest with Conference I foe Port Washington on Wednesday. Manhasset’s last and only loss on the season came at the hands of Port Washington back in mid-September, as the Indians looked to exact some revenge.

The Friends Academy Girls Tennis team looked strong Monday afternoon, as they held home court against a visiting Wheatley team 6-1 on a windy afternoon. The Quakers had already beaten Wheatley 5-2 earlier in the season, and looked dominant on their home court winning two of their singles matches and all four of their doubles.

The Roslyn Bulldogs continued their winning ways Monday as it traveled to Jericho for a Conference I tilt. Behind its strong doubles play, Roslyn was able to edge the Jayhawks 4-3 to win its fourth straight match and improve to 8-1 on the season.

The Long Island Girls High School Tennis season resumed play on Monday after the long weekend, with Roslyn hosting Cold Spring Harbor in a Conference I battle, as the Bulldogs disposed of the Seahawks 7-0.

Tuesday afternoon played host to a bunch of different girls tennis matches throughout Long Island as we inch closer to the season’s conclusion. Port Washington hosted Jericho in a Conference I showdown and edged the Jayhawks 4-3.

It was a dominating performance by the Commack High School Girls Tennis team, as they were victorious over the Ross School 7-0 in a Monday afternoon match at Commack. The Commack girls are now 5-2 on the season, and will face off against a tough Half Hollow Hills West team on Tuesday at Commack.

One of the best matches of the 2014 girls season took place Monday, as Great Neck South took its undefeated record on the road to Wheatley in a Conference II-A matchup. Wheatley was coming off an impressive win over Great Neck North in its previous outing, while Great Neck South was looking to move one step closer to a perfect season.

It was a battle of two of Nassau County’s top girls tennis teams on Friday afternoon as the Jericho Jayhawks faced off against the Syosset Braves at Syosset High School. The Jayhawks looked impressive in defeating the Braves 4-3.

On Thursday, Suffolk County Girls High School Tennis action featured a non-conference matchup between Huntington High School and defending Suffolk County Champion Half Hollow Hills East. Hills East has been on a quite a tear over the past few years, winning 57 consecutive Suffolk County matches.

The 2014 Long Island girls high school season continued on Wednesday, as some of the best teams in Nassau County took to the courts in hopes of remaining undefeated. Unfortunately for Roslyn, its bid at a perfect season was spoiled by the Manhasset Indians, who went on the road to defeat the Bulldogs 5-2 in a huge Conference I showdown.
