Commack’s Kimberly Liao showed once again on Monday afternoon why she has been such a good player all season long. Just an eighth grader, Liao captured the 2015 Suffolk County Girl’s Individual Singles Title on a cold and windy afternoon at William Floyd High School in Mastic Beach, downing big-hitting Stephanie Chikvashvili of Half Hollow Hills East 7-5, 6-3.

For the second year in a row, the Nassau County Doubles Championship belongs to the Oyster Bay team of Celeste Matute (senior) & Courtney Kowalsky (junior). The two girls, who won last year’s Nassau County and New York State Doubles Titles, defeated the second-seeded team of Manhasset’s Lia Frankis & Amanda Foo in straight sets 6-2, 6-0 in the finals at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, N.Y.

The unbelievable 2015 season for the Commack Girls Tennis team continued this week, as eighth-grader Kimberly Liao won the Suffolk County Division I Individual Tennis Tournament, beating Huntington’s Emily Shutman 6-0, 6-3 in the finals at Smithtown East High School.

As the 2015 Girls High School Tennis Season winds down, playoff spots and seedings are up for grabs. On Tuesday, Roslyn and Great Neck South did battle, with both teams having a lot of the line. Roslyn, who had already clinched a playoff spot, was looking to improve their seeding, while Great Neck South was in a do or die situation, needing a win to advance to the playoffs.
