The Manhasset Indians advanced to the Nassau County Conference I final by defeating Jericho 5-2 in the semifinals on Monday afternoon. Manhasset was able to get contributions from a number of girls as it earned a spot versus Roslyn in the county final at Wheatley High School on Friday.

The Roslyn Bulldogs earned a spot in the Nassau County Conference I finals by defeating third-seeded Port Washington on Monday, while the South Side cyclones beat Plainview JFK to reach the Conference II semis.

Courtney Provan and Ester Chikvashvili had played two close three-set matches during the 2014 Suffolk County Girls High School season, so it was only fitting that the rubber match between the two would occur during the Suffolk County Championship.

It was familiar territory for Taylor Cosme, as she made her return to the Nassau County girl's championship tennis finals on Sunday afternoon at Eisenhower Park. The Herricks senior had to come from behind after losing a tough first set to Alex Koniaev of Locust Valley and rally to win the next two sets to defend her title and win her second consecutive Nassau County title, 4-6, 6-0, 6-2.

The Rebels of Great Neck South completed its undefeated 14-0 regular season with a 5-2 win over Wheatley Thursday. Amanda Zeitlin & Mollie Blank led the way for the Rebels as they notched a hard-fought 6-0, 3-6, 6-2 victory at third doubles.

In Conference I, the Locust Valley Falcons looked to gain revenge against the Syosset Braves in both the final match of the season for both teams. Syosset previously defeated Locust Valley 4-3 in a home match back in September.

Since a 4-3 loss to Port Washington in mid-September, the Manhasset Indians have looked like one of the teams to beat in Nassau County. The Indians notched a huge 4-3 win over Roslyn last Friday to distance itself in the Conference I standings, and traveled to Oceanside on Tuesday in search of its ninth consecutive win.

The Suffolk County 2014 Individual Championships continued on Tuesday. The finals of Division II and Division IV are all set after the semifinals were played yesterday, as Sabrina Ferretti of Ward Melville captured the Division III Championship with a straight-set win over her teammate and top-seeded Denise Lai.

The Suffolk County individual championships continued on Monday, as several of the County’s top performers hit the courts in hopes of advancing further into the tournament. Suffolk’s Division II, Division III and Division IV classes were in action on Monday.

The girls tennis schedule across Long Island was a light one on Thursday, as most teams prepare for their respective matches on Friday afternoon. However, a few teams took to the hard courts on Thursday afternoon, including Great Neck South, who was seeking to extend its winning streak to 11 and maintain its undefeated record.

The Manhasset Indians took its six-match winning streak into a home contest with Conference I foe Port Washington on Wednesday. Manhasset’s last and only loss on the season came at the hands of Port Washington back in mid-September, as the Indians looked to exact some revenge.

The Friends Academy Girls Tennis team looked strong Monday afternoon, as they held home court against a visiting Wheatley team 6-1 on a windy afternoon. The Quakers had already beaten Wheatley 5-2 earlier in the season, and looked dominant on their home court winning two of their singles matches and all four of their doubles.

The Roslyn Bulldogs continued their winning ways Monday as it traveled to Jericho for a Conference I tilt. Behind its strong doubles play, Roslyn was able to edge the Jayhawks 4-3 to win its fourth straight match and improve to 8-1 on the season.

It was a dominating performance by the Commack High School Girls Tennis team, as they were victorious over the Ross School 7-0 in a Monday afternoon match at Commack. The Commack girls are now 5-2 on the season, and will face off against a tough Half Hollow Hills West team on Tuesday at Commack.

One of the best matches of the 2014 girls season took place Monday, as Great Neck South took its undefeated record on the road to Wheatley in a Conference II-A matchup. Wheatley was coming off an impressive win over Great Neck North in its previous outing, while Great Neck South was looking to move one step closer to a perfect season.

On Thursday, Suffolk County Girls High School Tennis action featured a non-conference matchup between Huntington High School and defending Suffolk County Champion Half Hollow Hills East. Hills East has been on a quite a tear over the past few years, winning 57 consecutive Suffolk County matches.
