Stony Brook went on the road and defeated Comsewogue 5-2 on Monday afternoon in Suffolk League V Division III play to notch its first victory of the season. Stony Brook dominated singles play, winning all four matches, including two in straight sets.

On Friday in Nassau Conference I-A action at Wheatley, Great Neck South defeated host Wheatley 4-3. Great Neck South won third singles, first doubles, and third and fourth doubles to earn their second win in Conference I-A. Great play by David West & Eric Rofe at first doubles helped the duo pull out a three-set victory over Wheatley’s Evan Hirsch & John Zuckerman, 4-6, 6-2, 6-2.

The Suffolk County Tennis Coaches Association (SCTCA) recently hosted a pre-season HS Coaches workshop at Sportime Kings Park. The Workshop, organized by SCTCA President and Commack Coach Shane Helfner, was conducted by SCTCA Vice President, Center Moriches Coach and USTA Coaching Education and Development Faculty member Joe Arias, and featured gymnasium tennis, and on-courts topics.

The Hampton Bays Baymen Boys Varsity Tennis team managed to overcome many obstacles in winning their first match of the season on Wednesday. Playing without one of their top players against a tough Eastport/South Manor Sharks team was difficult enough, but adding in the frigid temperatures made it that much more difficult.

High School tennis coaches from both Nassau and Suffolk Counties came out on March 23 for the Annual Coach's Clinic at Bethpage Park Tennis Center. Bethpage Park Tennis Directors Steve Kaplan and Keith Kambourian offered several tips for the coaches in attendance, with an emphasis on serving techniques and helping players improve consistency in their game.
