The 2011 U.S. Open saw Samantha Stosur take the title as the women's singles champion. The 9th-seeded Stosur defeated the 28th-seeded and former number one Serena Williams in straight sets. Merrick, N.Y.'s Noah Rubin defeated Stefan Kozlov of Pembroke Pines, Fla., 6-4, 6-4, at the USTA International Spring Championships in at the USTA Training Center West Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. to advance to the semifinals at the event. The number 14-seed Rubin will next face Ciro Riccardi of Los Angeles, Calif.

On Day Two of the USTA International Spring Championships in at the USTA Training Center West Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., Merrick, N.Y.'s Noah Rubin advanced in the prestigious tournament with a 6-0, 6-4 win over Logan Smith of Carlsbad, Calif. Rubin was fresh off his 6-3, 6-1 win over Japan's Kentaro Mizushima. Another local playing in the event, Aidan Talcott of East Norwich, N.Y., was defeated by William Chiu of San Diego, Calif., 4-6, 7-6(6), 6-2.

The USTA has announced the top American juniors who will represent the United States in the World Junior Tennis Competition Finals. Among those chosen for the boy's team is local product Noah Rubin of Merrick, N.Y. who made the cut and will join teammates Jordan Belga of Elk Grove Village, Ill. and Stefan Kozlov of Pembroke Pines, Fla. to represent the United States squad.

The 10th Annual Jana Hunsaker ITF Memorial wheelchair tournament began on June 10 with 55 participants from around the globe. "We have three players from Japan, one from France, four from Canada and one from Ghana," said Tournament Director Aki Takayama.
