In Sunday action at the 2011 U.S. Open, 22-year-old American Donald Young reached the fourth round at a Grand Slam for the first time, beating 24th-seeded Juan Ignacio Chela from Argentina in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4, 6-3. A full house at the Grandstand gave Young a standing ovation as he celebrated the victory, pumping his fist and grinning widely. Young had 46 winners to Chela’s 19.

Andy Roddick advanced in the Winston-Salem Open Tuesday night in the second round of the men's draw which leads up to the U.S. Open beginning next week. Roddick defeated Edouard Roger-Vasselin of France, 6-2, 6-4. This is just the second match for Roddick in the past six weeks after recovering from an abdominal strain.

Sunday’s final at the ATP 250 Atlanta Championships, the first tournament in the summer U.S. Open Series, was pretty identical to last year's final as once again, Mardy Fish took on fellow American John Isner. And like last year, Fish was able to outlast Isner in the scorching Atlanta heat, 3-6, 7-6(6), 6-2.
