The 2013 boys high school season is set to begin Monday, March 11. Defending Long Island and Nassau County Champion Cold Spring Harbor returns with a strong team, but will be without 2012 State Champion Josh Levine who has now graduated and is playing at Duke University.

For the third straight season Cold Spring Harbor (Nassau Champion) took on Half Hollow Hills (Suffolk Champion) for the Boys Tennis High School Championship, and for the third straight year, CSH prevailed. This time, it was a 5-2 match victory for CSH which gave the Seahawks their fifth straight Long Island Championship.

Day Three of the 2012 NYSPHSAA Boys Tennis Championships brought many hard-fought matches and great victories. Due to the poor weather of the weekend, the final matches were played indoors at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

Long Island will be very well represented today as the second round of the 2012 NYSPHSAA Boys Tennis Championships gets underway at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows. Of the eight singles matches to played this morning, five featured Long Island players, three from Nassau and two from Suffolk.

On Wednesday, May 9, the USTA Eastern Long Island Region Annual Awards Dinner was held at Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, N.Y. There were more than 300 in attendance to honor all of the award recipients for all of their hard work on behalf of the tennis community over the past year.

Last year as a junior, Josh Levine of Cold Spring Harbor won both the Nassau County and New York State Singles Titles en route to an undefeated season. At this past weekend's 2012 Nassau County Individual Championships, Levine, the top seed, defended the first of those titles in his senior season, with a straight-set 6-4, 6-4 win over his friend, Andrew Yaraghi of Friends Academy.

Duke men's tennis head coach Ramsey Smith has announced on Monday the signing of three of the nation's best recruits, as well as one of the top international recruits. Among this crop is Cold Spring Harbor's Josh Levine, who will join Michael Redlicki, Daniel McCall and Bruno Semenzato will join the Blue Devils for the 2012-13 season.

Long Island players continued their stellar performance on day two of the 2011 New York State Public High School Athletic Association tournament as Nassau County’s Josh Levine of Cold Spring Harbor, the number two seed, and Zachary Morris from Garden City both moved into the semifinals of the main draw singles competition.

With a bit of controversy regarding the lineups, the 2011 Long Island High School Boys Tennis Championship came down to the first doubles match with the score tied at three matches apiece. After Cold Spring Harbor swept singles play, Half Hollow Hills East answered with three straight doubles victories. The match would be decided by either the team of Jensen Reiter & Alex Tropiano of Cold Spring Harbor or Zain Ali & Eric Bertuglia of Half Hollow Hills East.

For a fourth straight year, Cold Spring Harbor has won the Nassau County High School Boys Tennis Championship, capping off an undefeated 2011 season on Wednesday afternoon at Wheatley High School in Old Westbury, N.Y., with a 6-1 victory over Syosset High School.

The Cold Spring Harbor Boys Varsity Tennis team won their third consecutive Long Island Championship on Wednesday, May 26, knocking off Suffolk County Boys Tennis Champions Half Hollow Hills East by a score of 6-1 at Smithtown East High School. Battling temperatures in the 90s and high humidity, the undefeated Cold Spring Harbor squad had their work cut out for them. It was a tough battle, but in the end, Cold Spring Harbor was able to pull out the win.

First singles player, Josh Levine of Cold Spring Harbor thought he would be getting a little more competition from his match against Roslyn at Garden City High School on Thursday. “I was ready to play Austin (Blau) but they told me he had gotten sick and wouldn’t be available. So I ended up playing their alternate instead.” Blau's replacement, Jeff Cohen, tried hard and got Levine into some long baseline rallies, but in the end, Cohen just couldn't overcome Levine's many weapons in losing 0-6,1-6.
