On April 30, Long Beach Tennis Center (LBTC), along with the Junior First Lego League Team, “Merrick Connection” and Cure Mommy’s Breast Cancer (CMBC), held a children’s Tennis Carnival at LBTC. Kids were able to experience tennis through the fun and exciting 10-and-Under format, while the 11- to 13-year-olds were able to enjoy full court games and skill challenges.

Long Island competitors had a tough day on Sunday, as the Easter Bowl got underway in California. The lone local winner on Sunday was Brendan Volk of Dix Hills, N.Y. Brendan defeated Jake Jacoby of Little Rock, Ark. in a tough three set match, 6-7(4), 7-5, 6-3.

On Saturday April 9, 16 boys, ages 12 and under, took the courts at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center to compete in the Longines Future Tennis Aces event. They were all playing for the chance to win an all-expenses paid trip to the French Open to meet and play against tennis greats, Andre Agassi and Jim Courier at Roland Garros.
