The United States Tennis Association (USTA) Eastern Long Island Region has scheduled its 22nd Annual Awards Dinner for Wednesday, May 9 at the Crest Hollow Country Club, located at 8325 Jericho Turnpike in Woodbury, N.Y.

In January, nine Long Islanders were recognized for their outstanding achievements both on and off the court by the USTA Eastern Section at its 2012 Annual Meeting and Awards Reception. The following were honored for their efforts during 2011:

Long Island Tennis Services is offering a new Saturday training program for junior players designed to introduce new players to the game of tennis and prepare those with some experience for tournament and team play. The affordably-priced Early Training Program, offered at a price of $100 per child (with a 10 percent discount for the second child in the same family) for 10 two-hour sessions weekly, is available for children ages five through 18.

On Thursday, March 8, there will be a 10 & Under Tennis QuickStart Workshop held at Long Beach Tennis Center, located at 899 Monroe Boulevard in Long Beach, N.Y. from 10:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m. The event is open to all and there is a $10 charge per person for the event.
