The second installment of the 2015 Long Island Tennis Challenge took place July 11th at Engineers Country Club in Roslyn, N.Y., where some of the area’s top players took to the Club’s clay courts on a beautiful Saturday afternoon for a day of highly-competitive tennis, great food and prizes, and a chance to be crowned the champions of the Long Island Tennis Challenge.

Young hopefuls from across Long Island were on-hand at SPORTIME Syosset, the Long Island home of the John McEnroe Tennis Academy (JMTA) on June 27 to try out for a full scholarship to attend JMTA at SPORTIME Syosset for the 2015-2016 season. The day entailed a variety of tryout evaluation sessions.

The day begins with registration at 9:00 a.m., with a variety of tryout evaluation sessions concluding at approximately 1:00 p.m.

The Commack Boys Varsity and Junior Varsity tennis teams held their annual free tennis clinic for the Commack community. The teams were able to get around 30 young tennis players to come out and learn from the high school teams. It was a fun time for all, and a great way for the Commack tennis program to give back to the community.

The Rally for Hope Tennis fundraiser was a big hit. More than 50 players and spectators came out to Eastern Athletic Club in Blue Point to support Hope House Ministries. In its fifth year, the event has raised over $13,500.

The Linharts had this to say, “We are delighted and happy to host such a moving and fun event. These are two things very close to our hearts–Israel and tennis.”
