The 2012 French Open, the year’s second Grand Slam event, will take place May 27-June 10 at the famed clay courts of Roland Garros. The event was first played in 1891 as a French national tournament on grass. The surface would be changed to red clay in 1912.

Tennis legend Martina Navratilova will compete on the upcoming season of Dancing With the Stars, which airs for 10 weeks beginning Monday, March 19, on ABC. The network announced the 12 contestants on Feb. 28. Martina will dance with Tony Dovolani, a Kosovan-American professional ballroom dancer.

Former world number one-ranked Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark went back at Martina Navratilova this past week after she claimed that Wozniacki had never deserved to even be at the top of the world rankings. Several of the biggest names in tennis came together at the 19th annual WTT Smash Hits presented by GEICO at Cleveland Public Hall, raising more than $500,000 for the Elton John AIDS Foundation and the AIDS Taskforce of Greater Cleveland.
