Second seeded Andy Murray became the first ATP World Tour player to save a match point in the Sony Open Tennis finals in Miami, defeating third-seeded David Ferrer 2-6, 6-4, 7-6(1) for his Sony Open trophy. With the win, Murray will move past Roger Federer into the number two spot in the ATP Men's Singles Rankings.

Maria Sharapova defeated Sara Errani in straight sets 7-5, 7-5 to reach the semifinals of the 2013 Sony Open Tennis in Miami. Sharapova had the early momentum in the 80-minute first set, building a 5-3 lead and holding two set points in that game, as Errani fought them both off and evened the proceedings to 5-5, but it was to no avail as Sharapova broke one more time in the next game and served the opening frame out, 7-5.

Roger Federer says he won't play as often in the next few years and hopes to compete in the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Federer is in Brazil to take part in an exhibition match against Thomaz Bellucci. To date in his storied career, Federer has competed in four Olympics, winning the Gold Medal in doubles at the 2008 Beijing Games and a Silver Medal in singles at this past summer's 2012 London Games.
