There’s some kind of déjà vu feeling in the air as I remember writing an article recapping Andy Murray’s embarrassing opening round exit in Montreal to Kevin Anderson of South Africa. That story doesn’t even compare to Rafael Nadal losing 1-6, 7-6(5), 7-6(5) in his opening round match to Ivan Dodig of Croatia at the 2011 Rogers Cup in Montreal.

Novak Djokovic of Serbia, ranked number two in the world, defeated top-ranked Rafael Nadal in the finals of the Sony Ericsson Open, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (4). Djokovic has captured four titles, including the Australian Open, Dubai and, now, back-to-back elite Masters titles at Indian Wells and Miami, both with victories over Nadal in the finals.

At the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami, top-ranked Rafael Nadal defeated the number seven seed Tomas Berdych, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3, to advance to the friday night semifinals of the event where he'll face Roger Federer. Federer was victoious over Gilles Simon, who was forced to retire due to a stiff neck after dropping the first three games in a quick 10 min. match.
