USTA Player Development has announced that eight junior development programs in six states have been named USTA Certified Regional Training Centers as part of its continuing effort to develop the next generation of world-class American players. Sportime Stadium at Randall's Island was buzzing last night as some of tennis's greats, both past and present, were on-hand for the WTT match between the New York Sportimes and the Philadelphia Freedoms. Andy Roddick (representing the Freedoms), John McEnroe (Sportimes) and Billie Jean King (WTT Founder) all helped in making the night special for the large crowd who turned out for the matches.

World TeamTennis is donating hundreds of clothing items for children impacted by the earthquake in Haiti to K.I.D.S. (Kids in Distressed Situations), a charity that focuses on the needs of children and their families. While the immediate call from relief organizations is for funds to support rescue efforts and emergency medical treatment in Haiti, a number of charities such as K.I.D.S. will also provide a “second wave” of support to displaced children and their families.
