The USTA has announced that it will launch Tennis Festivals throughout the month of March, designed to get kids active and excited about the sport of tennis. The kick-off to these Tennis Festivals coincides with the annual “Tennis Night in America” celebration at New York’s Madison Square Garden on March 4, which will feature Rafael Nadal, Juan Martin del Potro, Serena Williams and Victoria Azarenka.

Novak Djokovic won his 17th straight match win and will next attempt to capture his fourth title at the 2013 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships after defeating the fourth-seeded Juan Martin del Potro 6-3, 7-6(4) for a place in his 55th tour-level final. Djokovic’s last loss came to Sam Querrey at the BNP Paribas Masters in Paris in October 2012.

The USTA has announced that the Delray Beach Tennis Center in Delray Beach, Fla. has been selected as the site for the 2013 Fed Cup by BNP Paribas World Group Playoff between the U.S. and Sweden, April 20-21. The event is being organized, staged and promoted by the USTA. Local sponsors include the City of Delray Beach, Delray Beach Community Redevelopment Agency and the Palm Beach County Sports Commission.

After a first round bye, top-seeded Rafael Nadal won his opener at the Brazil Open 2013 on Thursday, defeating Joao Souza 6-3, 6-4. Nadal broke the Brazilian once in each set to take the first-time meeting in 78 minutes. Yesterday, Nadal announced that he was dropping out of the doubles portion of the event in order to focus on his singles game.
