New York area tennis fans are in for another great night of tennis with some of the world’s top players scheduled to appear at the Sixth Annual BNP Paribas Showdown at Madison Square Garden on Monday, March 4.

Before four of the biggest names in tennis take the court at Madison Square Garden, MSG Networks will present “The World of Tennis: BNP Paribas Showdown Preview” show on Friday, March 1 at 5:30 p.m. on MSG+ with an encore presentation at 11:30 p.m. on MSG.

Chinese qualifier Wang Qiang scored a shocking upset of world number 10 Caroline Wozniacki at the 2013 BMW Malaysian Open for her first WTA main draw victory. Up 6-2, 3-1, the top-seeded Wozniacki appeared on the way to a routine win, but Wang reeled off four straight games ...

The USTA has announced that the Delray Beach Tennis Center in Delray Beach, Fla. has been selected as the site for the 2013 Fed Cup by BNP Paribas World Group Playoff between the U.S. and Sweden, April 20-21. The event is being organized, staged and promoted by the USTA. Local sponsors include the City of Delray Beach, Delray Beach Community Redevelopment Agency and the Palm Beach County Sports Commission.

World number one-ranked Novak Djokovic returned to action at the 2013 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, reaching the second round of the event after a 6-1, 6-4 victory over fellow Serbian Viktor Troicki. Djokovic was playing his first match since appearing alongside Troicki in Davis Cup action at the start of the month.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga saved a match point before overcoming top-seeded Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic 3-6, 7-6 (6), 6-4 in the finals of the Open 13. The third-seeded Tsonga won his first title of the season and 10th of his career.

American Jack Sock advanced to his second tour-level quarterfinal after defeating fellow wild card and countryman James Blake 7-5, 6-4 at the 2013 U.S. National Indoor Tennis Championships in Memphis. Sock saved nine of the 10 break points he faced to clinch the win in one hour and 48 minutes.

With the news of both world number one and number two-ranked Serena Williams and Victoria Azarenka bowing out of the 2013 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, round one action wrapped up as Sara Errani and Petra Kvitova were among the winners moving on to round two.

World number 63-ranked Denis Istomin defeated third-seeded American John Isner 6-4, 6-3 in the first round of the U.S. National Indoor Tennis Championships at the Racquet Club of Memphis in Memphis, Tenn.

Second-ranked Victoria Azarenka has withdrawn from the Dubai Championships due to a bone bruise in her right foot. Azarenka, who was replaced by Serena Williams at the top of the WTA Women's Singles Rankings on Monday, said she hurt her foot a week ago in Doha, Qatar, en route to the final, where she defeated Serena.

Spain's Rafael Nadal clinched his 37th clay-court title at the Brazil Open 2013 in Sao Paulo with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Argentina's David Nalbandian 6-2, 6-3. It was Nadal's first finals win since last June when he defeated Novak Djokovic in the finals of the 2012 French Open.
